Which should I get - Canon EOS-1D Mark IV or Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III?
I know the Canon 1D Mark IV is newer, but it's cheaper and has a much lower mega-pixel rate. The Canon 1D Mark III is older and costs more. Which is better? Why is it better than the other? I just can't see through the specs to find out why their is such a huge price difference for an older product.
If I were you I would go with Canon 1D Mark IV. Less mega pixel but wider range ISO 100-12,800, 45-point Area AF sensor.Faster continuous shooting at 10fps and also take HD video. Especially, you have money for another great lens.
Which Pro DSLR should I buy, Canon 1D Mark IV or Nikon D3s?
I now have a Nikon D300 and am upgrading to a pro-line level DSLR. I make my living photographing, and wanted to get peoples input. Since neither of these camera's are out yet, I figured people that have owned the Nikon D3 and the Canon 1D Mark III could help out since they're very similar cameras. I like the D3s because of it's renoun high ISO low noise capability, but the Canon 1D Mark IV has a bit better movie, which I'll be using quite a bit as well. It also has a few more megapixels, which I obviously know that megapixels isnt everything, but having a bit more would enable me to zoom and crop with a little more clarity if needed. Any help or input would be great! Thanks so much!
What do you have now? The D300 ... you said you are upgrading.
Just stick with Nikon's .. it will cost you a lot less to add to your system than changing them. As far as the two you mentioned, they are professional still cameras and the video is just a little off the track. The D3(s) are THE camera is you want low noise at high ISO settings. IF that is what you need, you have but on choice. The Nikon D3(s) can use any of the current Nikon lenses as well as most of those made since 1959. The Canon 1Ds, Mark IV can ONLY use Canon EF lenses .. the EF-S lenses conflict with the cameras mirror As a pro, if I am shooting video, I just rent a HD video camera like the Red One or one of the fine Panasonic, JVC or Sony HD cameras.
Which Canon DSLR is better to get and why? The Canon 1Ds Mark III, Canon 1D Mark IV or or the Canon 5D Mark II.?
Please speak from use, not just from looking at the price.
Speaking from experience, there's no reason to pick the Canon 5D Mark II when placed against the Canon 1Ds Mark III and Canon 1D Mark IV. Size is Canon 5D's only advantage over the other two, but if your travelling can accommodate cameras in the size of the other two, then Canon 5D has nothing to show.
Of the top of my head I would suggest Canon 1Ds Mark III for its speed and in-camera image processing, but Canon 1D Mark IV has a slightly better sensor (I think, not entirely sure, it's just my opinion). So if you're a RAW person, Canon 1D Mark IV has a slight advantage. |
